Jay Simpson was born in Sydney, Australia. She worked as an English, Drama and Music Teacher for many years in schools, TAFE and the University of Newcastle. She moved to Perth, Western Australia in 2011 following a personal tragedy.

Jay is a poet whose goal is to grow and change through experimental writing and a desire to explore absurdity and obscurity. Surreal and Dada poetry and art influence the way she works. Her collaborator, American poet Randy Barnes supports and works with her, and she with him, to explore the possibilities of their art and their poetic collaborations. In her poetry Jay explores social and world affairs, sex, death, love, escape and memory. Jay pushes the boundaries in her writing. She often writes from a dangerous place where you will find raw honesty.

Jay is recently published in Lothlorien Poetry Journal, Cajun Mutt Press and Alien Buddha Press. Jay is also the featured writer, both nationally and internationally in a number of online magazines and journals as well as other notable publications. She is currently working on her book to be published in 2024/2025.

Jay loves poetry, art, music, satire and black comedy. She also loves recording and reading poetry publicly.

She is the Creative Director and Author at ‘Living Dangerously’.
