“The price an artist pays for doing what he wants is that he has to do it.” William S. Burroughs

FIRST LIGHT

(Art Willem de Kooning) – (Poem Jay Simpson)

First Light

Morning stumbles
broken dialogue

first light
blurred vision

weeks ago
empty room

first stanza
tired rhythm

half breath
father’s death

stumbling block
constancy

pursed lips
bedroom folly

free form
lost synergy

turn corners
slow burners

warm throat
long fingers

slow beat
return repeat
