“The price an artist pays for doing what he wants is that he has to do it.” William S. Burroughs

Poetry Around the Globe RANDY BARNES

Cardboard Saviour

In the year of elsewhere
cut to sky and consummation
a simple extension landward for the outriggers
paint your portrait delete the figure
without mechanics mere rainfall
another war in the flower burst
usual suspects in evolution’s atmospheric impulse
senses internalized fixed to unreason
beliefs built for the winds
no need to explain background from foreground
pigments blurred with forests of babble
displays of drama an indifferent illusion embraced
exclude the instant travel in reverse
it’s theater to claim the record straight
borderland epitaphs on the dole yet looks are everything.
